  • Overcrowding of teeth is the most common condition needing orthodontic treatment. Overcrowding can not only make patients self conscious of their smile, it can also lead to premature wear of teeth and other tooth or jaw-related problems.
  • There can be many reasons for excess gaps and spacing between teeth, including missing teeth and large jaw size. Orthodontists are specially qualified to diagnose these problems and offer appropriate treatment.
  • Normally, the upper teeth slightly overlap the lower teeth. In cases of cross bite, the upper teeth align too far to the inside of the lower teeth, which can lead to problems like excess tooth wear or abnormalities in jaw function.
  • Also commonly called “deep bite”, this problem occurs when the upper teeth significantly cover the lower teeth upon closing.
  • The opposite of “deep bite,” this problem occurs when the upper teeth do not properly overlap the lower teeth upon closing, leaving a gap between the upper and lower teeth.
  • Commonly called “protrusion” or incorrectly labeled “overbite,” overjet occurs when the front teeth extend too far forward of the lower teeth.
